Explanation
A good rental application letter is short, factual, and easy to scan. Lead with who you are, your household size, your employment situation, and when you want to move.
Do not oversell. Landlords usually care more about stable income, complete documents, and whether your facts are easy to verify than about elaborate wording.
German example
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich bewerbe mich hiermit für die ausgeschriebene Wohnung. Ich bin unbefristet als Software Engineer tätig, verfüge über ein regelmäßiges Nettoeinkommen und wünsche einen Einzug zum 01.07.2026. Die üblichen Unterlagen stelle ich Ihnen gern vollständig zur Verfügung. Über eine Rückmeldung oder einen Besichtigungstermin würde ich mich sehr freuen.
English translation
Dear Sir or Madam, I am applying for the advertised apartment. I work as a software engineer on a permanent contract, have regular net income, and would like to move in on July 1, 2026. I would be happy to provide the usual documents in full. I would appreciate a reply or a viewing appointment.

- Writing a life story instead of a short application letter.
